Postage Stamps used in the German Marshall Islands Yacht Issues--Sheets and Selvedges by Dirk H.R. Spennemann |
Sheet TypesThe Yacht series stamps were printed on a variety of types of sheets, which can be distinguished by the arrangement of the perforation and by the lay-out of the printer registration marks. For the Pfennig values we can distinguish Type E, Type H, Type J, and Type K. On these sheets the stamps were set out in ten rows of ten. A smaller sheet was used for the Mark values. Corner pieces are usually very diagnostic as to the type of sheet. Of these, the top left corners are non-diagnostic, as they can come from all sheet types with the exception of Type K. |

Sheet Numbers |
Sheet numbers were introduced comparatively late. For the Marshall ISlands stamps sheet numbers are only on record for the 1916 printing of the 3 Pfg Yacht series with watermarks.
