Postage Stamps used in the German Marshall Islands Postal Stationery -- Card PP 2 by Dirk H.R. Spennemann |
|
Introduction |
The Imperial Post Office offered private individuals and companies to have prestamped Stationery printed with their own motifs and decoration/advertisements. Some colonial companies made use of this offer. For the Marshall Islands only one such example existed. In March 1898 colonial trading house of Bruno Altemann in Berlin, was the first company to do so for the colonies. It had view cards made up for the six German colonies (German Southwest Africa, German East Africa, Cameroons, Togo, Marshall Islands and German New Guinea). Two values, 5 Pfg and 10 Pfg were printed. |
