Marshallese Legends and Traditions

Oral History

The stories that follow here are quite different from anything so far.

Oral history is the retelling of events that people remember in their own lifetime, or remember being told by someone who themselves saw the events. The story-tellers believed them to be true events.

The number of oral histories is endless and we have included only a few examples to give readers an idea of the many different things that have happened in the past that are all History.

The examples range through time. Indeed, the RiPalle appear for the first time here.
