Pan American Flying Boat Air Route to China. Commemorative Cachets compiled by Dirk H.R. Spennemann |
This page presents some images of stamps and covers produced for the Pan American flying boat service across the Pacific. On 21 April 1937 PanAm extended its route network by adding a Manila-Macao-HongKong leg, that linked in with the Transpacific Air Service via Honolulu and Guam. Pan Am operated two flying boats, the Hongkong Clipper (Manila-HongKong) and the China Clipper. In early May PanAm commenced the passenger service on this route. As with the rest of the PanAm network in the Western Pacific, the service was terminated after Pearl Harbor. |
